*asik*

Inilah karya saya untuk Halimun#3!
Udah cukup mewakili kota Surabaya belom? :)

Gini-gini saya salut loh sama semangat mereka buat ngedukung tim Persebaya :)
5) Gambar perahu layar dan gelombang laut >> entah kenapa saya langsung nyambung kesini begitu mikir 'Surabaya', mungkin gara-gara punya Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak, Akademi Angkatan Laut, Monumen Jales Veva Jaya Mahe :p

Ketika menerima kiriman saya, Anitha Silvia kelihatan senang. Beliau bilang kalo 'Bebek everywhere' bisa disebutin ketika ada temen bule nanya tentang Surabaya. Hihi, saya turut senang deh kalo ternyata karya saya bisa ikut jadi referensi :p

Optimistic

Happy Independence Day to our beloved country, Indonesia! For those who've read my post on August 3rd, they will easily notice these pictures. Right, it's my submission for Magnum Opus, a poetry competition held by the official English Department students organization of Petra Christian University.

My artwork

The title and the participant's name, which is me! :))

The sentence of the first line :)

My old CDs are truly magic.

The poetry is created under the specific topic of "Show Your Love" and all participants are required to use eco-friendly products as the materials (note: in short, paper is not allowed). I simply chose a plain white t-shirt, some old CDs, a red woolen string, a fine glue, a green plastic hanger, some artificial leaves, and some permanent markers to construct the artwork. In other words, I had this idea of recycling process.

As I finished to combine all of the materials into a solid product, I began to think about my poem. So, I wrote it down, made it scattered all over the body, and added some decorative details to make it more attractive. VoilĂ !, it was all done! :)

Anyway, we haven't talked about the poem, right? Basically, it has 4 stanzas with 4 lines each. The first line begins with the following words: "Don't be so passive 'cause you've got a light to shine..." and it's continued to the next group of lines; containing words that are full of emotion -- vivacity and positivity. Why? 'Coz this poem is special and it's nice to help a pessimistic person! :)

"Don’t be so passive
‘Cause you’ve got a light to shine
Just set yourself on fire
And feel the beat of power !

Jump, jump!
It’s not as scary as you think
The world is waiting for you
People is watching you

Bring yourself up to the front
Show your confidence, show your passion
It’s really not a competition
It’s just something you need to give

Hey, look! They are smiling at you
It’s because you’re special ..
You’re truly a gift !
And everyone is proud of you!"

("Optimistic", by Felkiza Vinanda, 2011)

*Note: I haven't got a chance to win the competition, but I'm quietly proud of it. All works of the participants had been displayed on the exhibition (which took place at B Hallway of Petra Christian University) for two days. Well, I just love it!

The first week

This is actually not my favorite phase; but hey, I just feel so excited! I am taking 24 credits this semester and I'll have 11 classes to attend. Some of them belong to basic language courses (skill, linguistics, literature, and culture courses), while the rest belongs to professional courses (English language teaching and Theatre & Film courses). Well, it's like a challenge; I mean, some of them are really new for me. Let's say: Phonology & Morphology ('creepy' stuff that I often heard from my boyfriend), Modern European Philosophy (a study of various modern European thoughts from the 17th century to the 20th century), and last, Theatrical Design, which takes more credits than the others (I'll learn the basic concepts of theatrical design & production; include the design and production of the set, property, lighting, costume & make up, and sound). But that doesn’t really matter, I promise to work hard on every subjects. Finger crossed :)

*PS : Recent posts about the grand opening event of Centro Department Store will be soon available at Surabaya Fashion Carnival. Do visit the blog first :)

It's tonight!

It's the third day of fasting and I hope everyone is still doing well. I am currently working on some stuffs in my last few days of holiday, one of them is a poetry competition held by Petra Christian University (yes, that's my school!). Wish me luck, okay?

Another stuff, ...well, it's kind of challenge for me. I just got invited to the grand opening of Centro Department Store with some fashion blogger fellows. (rr...actually, I never consider myself as a single fashion blogger, but I do work in team for Surabaya Fashion Carnival. But don't mind it, that's not a big deal! hehe) The grand opening will take place on Wednesday, August 3rd at 6 pm - which is tonight! - at Galaxy Mall, Surabaya. For your information, there'll be two main events, which is Red Carpet & Wall of Fame and the most important one, is Opening - Fashion Show - First walk by Olla Ramlan (I bet one of my bestfriends would love to see her) - and Closing. Hm, it's exciting, huh? :)

The invitation

The good news is I'll do some reports after the show. So, in case you missed it, just stay tuned on my blog and I will let you updated! :)
